Talented junior middleweight newcomer Alfonso Blanco was a member of the 2008 Venezuelan Olympic team who won numerous National and International titles while also achieving the coveted number one world ranking in his 157-21 career.
Among his accolades were a Silver medal at the 2007 World Championships and the 2006 South American title, and in 2008 he defeated Argenis Nunez of the Dominican Republic before losing to eventual Bronze medalist Darren Sutherland of Ireland.
Following his impressive amateur campaign, Blanco decided that it was time to take his talent to the pro ring, and on September 17th, he made his professional debut with a shutout four round decision win over Alfredo Rivera.
The 26-year old Caracas native now lives in Oxnard, California, where he is trained by former world champion Robert Garcia.
