The younger brother of the legendary Erik Morales and former WBO champion Diego Morales, 21-year-old flyweight prospect Ivan Morales pays homage to his eldest sibling with the nickname “Terrible II,” and he’s now starting to build his own legacy in the family business.
A southpaw with impressive power, the Tijuana native turned pro in 2009 and has yet to taste defeat in the ring. In 2011, he went 7-0 with five knockouts, and he had another busy year in 2012, one that started with knockouts of Ricardo Armenta in February and Edgar Martinez in April, the latter victory earning him his first pro title, the vacant WBC International Silver Super Flyweight belt.
In September of 2012, Morales impressively gutted out a 10 round technical decision win over 46 fight veteran Luis Maldonado, and two months later he finished up the year with a near shutout of Ernesto Guerrero.
Morales’ most recent fight saw him knock out Patricio Camacho in 47 seconds on January 19, 2013, and on April 20 he will travel to the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas to face Chihuahua’s Raul Hidalgo in an eight round contest on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Austin Trout undercard.
