An Evening of Champions brings dreams to life as the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation gives back to Los Angeles!

It was truly an Evening of Champions as Oscar de la Hoya and his self-titled Foundation stopped at nothing to deliver a knockout performance with George Lopez as the Emcee, honorees Sam Nazarian, Antonio Banderas and Steve Westly, Entertainment by Macy Gray and presenters Jeffrey Katzenberg and Rick Fox, to name some of the stars that shone down on the Beverly Hilton on Wednesday night. A varietal silent auction of sports memorabilia, fine jewelry, and classic art were among the many items that raised over half a million dollars for the Oscar de la Hoya Foundation this year, including a live auction for tickets (not yet on sale!) to the unofficially announced and highly anticipated Oscar de la Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather fight in May, 2007.

The real highlight was the five scholarship award recipients from the Oscar de la Hoya Animo Charter High School who braved the star-studded stage in front of hundreds of guests to profess their hopes and dreams for the future and to give Oscar thanks for the opportunities his Foundation has given them. Although very emotional in context, there was a light-hearted tone to the evening with a sense of promise for these kids who, without help from the Foundation, have been less fortunate.
