At 18 years old, southpaw phenom Alexis Rocha has wasted no time in his pursuit of boxing gold and glory. The younger brother of current WBC Silver Featherweight champion Ronny Rios, Rocha was the youngest fighter to win a gold medal at the Junior Olympics at 14 years old in 2012 and caught the attention of the boxing world as he continued on to become a six-time national champion during his amateur career.
After his standout amateur career, Rocha turned professional and signed with Golden Boy Promotions on January 25, 2016. Rocha made an electrifying professional debut on March 4, 2016, knocking out Jordan Rosario at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. Rocha followed up that performance with an equally exciting first round knockout against Abdel Vera on May 6, 2016, in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada.
In his third fight of 2016, Rocha faced Anthony Woods on June 4 on the non-televised undercard of Francisco Vargas vs. Orlando Salido at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Going all four-rounds for the first time, Rocha secured an unanimous decision with scores of 40-36 from all three judges. While Woods was aggressive with his punching, he couldn't land many on the quicker Rocha who bobbed and weaved throughout the fight.
