Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, Alex Martin started boxing at the age of 12 and later became one of the top amateurs in the country, compiling an amateur record of 176-35 winning 6 national titles.

After winning his first 13 fights, Alex suffered 3 consecutive loses before leaving for New York where he decided to give himself a fresh start working with Trainer/Manager Joseph Zagarino. Since then Alex moved down in weight and won 3 fights in a row including 2 upset wins against then undefeated fighters Angel Fierro 16-0 & Luis Hernandez 21-0 where he captured the WBC Continental Super lightweight title.
Refreshed and reinvigorated Alex Martin now has the chance to work with Golden Boy Promotions to which Alex says “ I Believe with the help of Golden Boy the sky is the limit, i’m ready for anyone, I will be lightweight world champion!”
