Fighter Biography

Bektemir Melikuziev started his professional boxing journey in June 2010. Previously, the body puncher won a silver medal at the 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championship to then earning a silver medal in the middleweight division at the 2016 Summer Olympics, proving his high-level experience as an amateur boxer.

The Uzbekistani amateur standout made his professional debut on June 13, 2019, where he knocked out Argentinian veteran Martin Fidel Rios during the first round at the Avalon in Hollywood, California as part of a Golden Boy card.

Most recently, Melikuziev scored a thunderous first-round body-shot knockout victory over Adrian Luna. This second professional bout took place in August 2019 as part of the Oscar De La Hoya Foundation spectacular night of professional boxing in Pasadena City Hall, California. Melikuziev will soon take on Marco Periban in an eight-round bout during the upcoming Canelo vs. Kovalev undercard on November 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
