LOS ANGELES, CA (December 19, 2022): The Oscar De La Hoya Foundation held its 20th Annual Christmas Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Oscar De La Hoya’s childhood school, Ford Elementary School, in East Los Angeles. Golden Boy’s Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya was on site and was joined by Santa Clause, the Ford Elementary School Mascot, and 1000 local East LA families as they welcomed the holidays together. Participating kids and families received toys and enjoyed a festive day with music and treats.

ABOUT THE OSCAR DE LA HOYA FOUNDATION

In 1995, boxing superstar Oscar De La Hoya started his namesake Foundation to help improve the quality of life for the community in his hometown of East Los Angeles. Today, with the help of many partners, the foundation serves thousands of people annually. The Oscar De La Hoya Foundation supports the Oscar De La Hoya Ánimo Charter High School, the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center, and the Oscar De La Hoya Labor and Delivery Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (both located at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles) as well as numerous after school programs that help guide young people toward leading positive lives and away from the circumstances of gang violence, juvenile delinquency, and substance abuse.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Golden Boy Fight Night: LA Edition closed the year with an action-packed night at The Commerce Casino and Hotel with a statement-making, second-round knockout victory by NABF Welterweight titleholder Raul “Cugar” Curiel (12-0, 10 KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico. Curiel successfully defended his title against Douglasville, Georgia’s Brad Solomon (29-6, 9 KOs). Scheduled for 10-rounds, Solomon only lasted 44-seconds into the second-round. The explosive fights were broadcast worldwide live on DAZN on Saturday, Dec. 17.“I am delighted with this victory – it feels great to conclude the year with this knockout win to defend my NABF Welterweight Title,” said Raul Curiel. “My opponent was strong, but I’m glad we were calm, didn’t rush, and got him with the left uppercut.”

TORREON, MEXICO – One of the lightweight division’s top contenders, Oscar Duarte (24-1-1, 19 KOs), returned to the ring this past Saturday, Dec. 17 and secured a third-round knockout victory over opponent Javier “Chivero” Franco (35-25-6, 16 KOs). The scheduled eight-round fight was held at Arena Azteca in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. ###

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – One of Golden Boy’s bantamweight stars, Hector Valdez, Jr. (16-0, 8 KOs) hosted a holiday toy drive in his local community of Arlington, Texas this past Sat., December 10. In partnership with Elite Striping LLC, Valdez, Jr. connected with his fans at 225 BBQ and collected hundreds of toys and over $500 to donate to the Grand Prairie Independent School District to go towards less financially fortunate families in need of help during the holiday season.###
